Join us for the 2026 Payne County 4-H Indoor Archery Fun Shoot on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Payne County Expo Hall in Stillwater, Oklahoma. This exciting competition welcomes all 4-H certified archers ages 9-18 to test their skills, compete for awards, and connect with fellow archers across Oklahoma. Registration Information

How to Register

Registration must be completed by January 8, 2026:

  1. Email Registration Form to: Summer.leister@okstate.edu
  2. Mail Payment & Form to:

    (Must be postmarked by January 8, 2026)
  3. Payment: $20 entry fee
    (Checks payable to: Payne County OSU Extension - OSU Extension Center Agency Account Checks ONLY)

⚠️Important: Registration is limited to the first 90 participants. No refunds will be issued. For more information about youth archery opportunities, see our events calendar.

Registration Requirements

  • Be enrolled in 4-H
  • Be 4-H Archery Certified
  • Have completed minimum 8 hours of instruction
  • Be between ages 9-18 (age as of July 31, 2025)
  • Have attending 4-H Certified Coach signature on registration form

Competition Details

Age Divisions

Age determined as of July 31, 2025:

  • Junior: Ages 9-11
  • Intermediate: Ages 12-13
  • Senior: Ages 14-18

Bow Types

Three bow types are permitted. Learn about choosing the right archery equipment:

  • Compound
  • Recurve
  • Genesis

Shooting Format

Junior Division:

  • Genesis & Recurve: 12 ends of 5 shots each (6 ends at 10 meters, 6 ends at 15 meters)
  • Compound: 12 ends of 5 shots each at 20 yards

Intermediate & Senior Divisions:

  • All Bow Types: 12 ends of 5 shots each at 20 yards

Competition Rules

Safety & Equipment

  1. Oklahoma 4-H archery safety rules will be followed throughout the contest
  2. Bow poundage limit: Maximum 60 pounds (subject to random inspection)
  3. Disqualification: Any bow found exceeding 60 pounds will result in immediate disqualification
  4. Arrow length will be checked prior to competition

Scoring

  • Archers assigned to the same target will work together to score arrows
  • Archers cannot score their own arrows
  • An adult group leader will record all scores
  • Individual responsibility: Each archer must verify their score is correctly recorded before arrows are pulled
  • Final score verification: Archers are responsible for checking math on their scorecard
  • Score corrections: If too many points were awarded, the final score will be corrected. If too few points were awarded, the signed score stands.

Team Competition

  • Team size: 3 or 4 members
  • Team scoring: Top 3 scores used to determine team score
  • Team requirements: All team members must shoot the same bow type and be in the same age division

Spectator Policy

⚠️Only archers, group leaders, and contest officials will be allowed in Expo Hall during competition.

This policy ensures:

  • ✅ Safety for all participants
  • ✅ Minimal distractions during competition
  • ✅ Efficient event flow
  • ✅ Compliance with venue capacity limits

Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued after registration is submitted. Please ensure your archer can attend before registering. For questions about our youth shooting sports programs, contact us anytime.

Frequently Asked Questions

❓ Who can participate?

All 4-H certified archers ages 9-18 (as of July 31, 2025) who have completed minimum 8 hours of instruction and are enrolled in 4-H.

❓ What equipment do I need to bring?

Your certified bow (Compound, Recurve, or Genesis), arrows (will be checked for length), quiver, arm guard and finger tab (if needed), and any personal safety equipment. See our archery equipment guide for recommendations.

❓ Can I register on event day?

No. Registration must be emailed and postmarked by January 8, 2026. The event is limited to the first 90 registered participants.

❓ What if my bow exceeds 60 pounds?

Any bow found exceeding 60 pounds will result in immediate disqualification from the contest. Bows may be randomly checked by contest officials. Review our archery safety guidelines before the event.

❓ Can parents/spectators watch?

Spectators are not permitted in the Expo Hall during competition. Only archers, group leaders, and contest officials are allowed in the competition area.

❓ What happens if I make a scoring error?

If too many points were awarded, your final score will be corrected. If too few points were awarded, the score you signed off on will stand. Always verify your score before arrows are pulled.

❓ How are teams formed?

Teams consist of 3-4 members who shoot the same bow type and are in the same age division. The top 3 scores are used to determine the team's total score.

❓ Will there be food available?

Contact the venue or event coordinator for information about concessions and food availability.
