Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child start?
β–Ό
Youth ages 8–18 can participate in our programs. We offer beginner-friendly training for ages 8–12 with no prior experience required. Younger youth start with air rifle or archery fundamentals, progressing to advanced disciplines as they develop skills and confidence.
Do I need prior shooting experience?
β–Ό
No! Our beginner programs are designed for youth with zero experience. Our NRA-certified coaches teach safety, fundamentals, and proper technique from day one. Many of our most successful athletes started as complete beginners.
How much does it cost?
β–Ό
Program costs vary by discipline and location. However, 70% of our youth receive scholarships covering equipment, travel, and program fees ($1,000–$2,000/year). If cost is a barrier, we have financial aid available. Contact us to discuss options for your family.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
β–Ό
Applying is simple! Complete a brief scholarship form, provide a statement of financial need, and optionally include a recommendation from a coach or school leader. Our board committee reviews applications on a rolling basis, and you'll hear back within 2–4 weeks. Contact us to start the process.
What safety measures are in place?
β–Ό
Safety is our top priority. We maintain a zero-incident record over 3+ years through comprehensive training, mandatory safety orientations (100% completion), background checks for all coaches, on-site first aid/AED, equipment inspections, and secure storage. All coaches hold current NRA or USA Archery certifications.
Can my child compete in tournaments?
β–Ό
Absolutely! We prepare youth for local, state, and national competitions. Our intermediate and advanced programs focus on competition training, technique refinement, and mental performance. Many of our athletes have earned college scholarships and competed at elite levels.
Do you offer mobile programs in my area?
β–Ό
We conduct 54+ mobile workshops annually across Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, and Arkansas. We bring professional coaching, equipment, and training to rural and underserved communities. Contact us with your location, and we'll let you know about upcoming workshops in your area or discuss bringing a program to your school or community.
What equipment do I need to bring?
β–Ό
You don't need to bring anything! We provide all equipment including air rifles, bows, pistols, safety gear, and targets. Our loaner gear is maintained to professional standards. As youth progress, they may choose to invest in personal equipment, but it's never required.
How do I register my child?
β–Ό
Registration is easy! Complete a brief online form with your child's information, parental consent, and medical release. You'll also need to attend a mandatory safety orientation (45–60 minutes). Once registered, your child will be fitted with equipment and scheduled for their first supervised session within one week.
What makes Red Dirt different from other programs?
β–Ό
Red Dirt is mission-driven: we remove financial barriers so every youth can participate. We offer 11 disciplines, mobile outreach to rural areas, NRA-certified coaching, a proven zero-incident safety record, and a track record of college scholarships.
